Heritage, Science and Society Program at NIAS

The National Institute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) is located in Bangalore within the Indian Institute of Science campus and was conceived and founded by Mr J.R.D.Tata in 1988.  It is deeply invested in multidisciplinary research, and one of its aims is to create ‘new leadership with broad horizons in all sectors of society by disseminating the conclusions of such research through appropriate publications and courses as well as through dialogues with leaders and the public‘. NIAS has a Heritage, Science and Society program which includes faculty and students who specialise in various aspects of Archaeology including landscape studies, archaeometallurgy.
